Hey all, long time no update!

Sorry, had to finish up a freelance project :) Work comes first!

But anyhow, I'm back on JE and things are coming along nicely with scripting and designs...it's just Erik's face that's throwing me for a bit of a loop. Because, well, it has to be perfect.

The most recent iteration of his death's head ( Comedy Behind the Tragedy ) I'm really liking...it's easy to manipulate and I think has a lot of expression. My favourite design I've gotten for him so far by far.

However, he still looks too "human" I think...since my point is to not romanticise the story, I don't want to stray away from making him look ghoulish.

With that in mind, I took to my first edition to take a look at his actual design, since I'm trying to keep as close to them (for all the characters) as possible:

All things considered, I'm getting pretty close...except if you notice, in the original novel is mouth is also hollowed in. Now I've tried this design and I just can't get the expression and manipulation I need to get his emotions across....I'm very torn.

SO~ My question for you all is: Is it worth it to sacrifice a bit of his ghoulishness in order to get proper expression? Or is it better to sacrifice the manipulation of his facemeats to stay closer to his actual appearance?

Oi.

Well, in other news, I'm also working on a little "teaser" for the project that's uncharacteristically humourous...hopefully that'll be up sometime this weekend or early next week.

As always, in-put is much appreciated, and til next time:

Cheers!

my theory... and I have to admit I am not much skilled in the art of drawings... but coming from an actress who has had to do some pretty incredible stuff under masks and makeup... is that with practice you will find how to make the hollowed mouth give you the expression you need.

useless, right?  ;) (Wink)
